Contemporary Image:

The extent of what it means to be an American have endured over time is that in the image for the Plan of the Great Seal; back then it meant to fight for your country and try to help it as much as you can so that you can gain your freedom and equality. In the picture of the two kids it shows them trying to fix the American flag by working together. Even though some things have changed for what it means to be an American, a lot has still endured like both images showing that it still means to try to help out your country as much as you can and fix the problems in it. Even from back then to now we still have a lot of problems that need to be fixed.
